7.1 About Survey Requirements
Melbourne Water requires 'as constructed' survey information to be supplied to ensure that necessary details of Works are accurately recorded for future reference.
Melbourne Water's aim is to ensure this information is supplied in a consistent and cost effective manner, with minimal additional hardware or software investment being required by the Land Development Industry. Melbourne Water's current business needs must also be considered.
While presentation of data to Melbourne Water in electronic format assists with loading of data, the amount of "as-constructed" drainage information to be provided by the Land Development Industry is not expected to be extensive. For all drainage assets, digital CAD and Adobe PDF formats are mandatory, while additional certified hardcopies are only required on relevant sheets of As Constructed information where an asset relates to a title. The PDF files of each plan are stored in Melbourne Water's Electronic Plan Management System (EPMS) and linked to the MapInfo GIS.
Melbourne Water's GIS is based on Map Grid of Australia (MGA) Zone 55 projection, using the 1994 values for the geocentric datum (GDA94). For the remainder of this section, it will be referred to as MGA94(z55).
